3 Tips to Become a Top Real Estate Social Media Video Influencer

Social video continues to climb the ranks as one of the most effective means of reaching and engaging audiences.

With billions of hours’ worth of video consumed across various social media platforms each day, it’s clear anyone who wants to be relevant must produce video.

In real estate, it may seem like there isn’t much potential to create interesting and relevant video. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

With a little bit of creativity and a whole lot of commitment, anyone can create amazing video content, regardless of industry.

Last year, BombBomb and Tom Ferry hosted the Real Estate Video Influencers of the Year Awards. The awards recognize real estate agents using video in a big way to reach and engage their audiences.

From the awards, these are three takeaways that emerged.

Optimize and Utilize Your YouTube Channel

Everyone on the list of awardees was on YouTube. That makes sense considering YouTube is the second most visited website on the Internet.

What emerged from the winners is that they all went to great lengths to optimize and utilize their YouTube channels.

They created optimized video titles for all their videos, had a complete channel description with professionally-made channel art – going even further to segment their videos into lists.

For real estate agents aspiring to become video influencers, the lesson was clear – leverage your YouTube channel to the maximum.

Create Interesting Thumbnails

The next takeaway that emerged had to do with video thumbnails. After poring over hundreds of videos, the judges noticed a similar trend – all channels with the most views had very interesting and catchy thumbnails.

The ones that stood out had a picture of the host, typically in a posed image, and some large catchy text.

The idea here is that when someone is going through dozens of videos in their feed, they will only click through to the ones with eye-catching thumbnails.

The lesson here is that for your videos to stand out, you need to use smart and catchy thumbnails.

Create a Recurring Series

Why do you think TV series are so popular? It’s because they tell an unfolding story sequentially.

This makes it easy for the brain to follow the plot. Of all the finalists, a majority had some sort of series going on. For some, it was a series that took viewers to all the restaurants in their area.

For others, it was interviewing small business owners in their community. Some had weekly educational videos, and yet others used video to offer recommendations.

The great thing about a series is that it creates a theme and consistency.

If someone is interested in restaurants, for example, they will come back to your channel week after week to watch new restaurant review episodes.

Conclusion

Getting video right can be a major game changer for your real estate business. It puts you front and center in the eyes of those you are reaching.

While text and other forms of content are great, video puts your face in the minds of your audience.

When this happens, people start to feel like they know you.

Gradually, they will come to like you and then trust you – which is a magical point where people start calling you for business or recommending you to their network.
