Today many people are struggling with how to move their lives forward. They find themselves stuck between high expectation from themselves and those around them and the reality of the life they are living. The Internet age also makes things more difficult because it peddles the lie of instant success very effectively. What happens is you find people in their twenties and thirties feeling like they are out of options. That they have already failed and there is nothing the future holds for them. This does not make sense at all! Despite the challenges people face today, we are living in one of the most exciting times in the history of humanity. All the information available on the planet is at your fingertips and there are so many more options today to what you can do with your life. To get you started or remotivated, here are three things you can start with.
Pick Your Path
Lanes. You’ve probably heard that word a lot. It’s used to describe a situation where you need to stick to your lane. While in some cases it is used lightly, the truth behind the statement is undeniable. If you are starting off with your business and you see other businesses making strides, don’t get all caught up trying to keep up. So what if another agent just sold 10 houses in a month? They are walking their path and you are walking yours. There are agents who sell one house a month and they live a fulfilling life full of happiness and contentment. On the other end, you have the Rockstar agent selling dozens of houses a month and they have a miserable life. Picking your lane and making it work for you is what translates into a life well lived.
Leverage Your Strengths (and Weaknesses)
Let’s say you went to college, have a degree and yet things are not working out. What do you do? While everyone is forming a startup and becoming entrepreneurs, you need to evaluate your options, strengths, and weaknesses and see how you fit into all this. The truth is, not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur. It’s the same way not everyone is cut out to be an employee. We all have different qualities that set us on different paths in life. Because not everyone can lead, there is still hope in being an amazing follower. Think about it, some of the greatest leaders rely 110% on their followers to make things work. Even Elon Musk would not be the legend he is today were it not for all the people that support and actualize all his ambitious ideas.
Get a DIY Mentality
A DIY mentality is a mentality where you consciously decide that the buck stops with you. It’s where you take responsibility for your situation and grind hard to make a difference. One thing that cripples people is the fact that they sit around waiting for a lucky break. That one big sale that will change their lives. That one referral that will catapult them to the next level. The reality is that there is rarely an elevator to get you to the top. Most people have to take the stairs. Instead of feeling like you need something special to happen for you to move your life forward, take the initiative instead. Roll up your sleeves and get to work!
If things are not currently working out in your life or your business, do not quit. In fact, there is a quote that goes, “If you get tired, don’t quit, rest.” That’s a powerful mindset right there. Resting means you are regrouping to take another crack at life. Getting that mindset and posture every time you feel like quitting is the recipe for real success.
