Humans are born with massive potential. Think of everyone who has ever accomplished anything great. Where did they start? Where did Thomas Edison or George Washington start? They all started as clueless little babies just like anyone else. What defined them was not their status at birth, but what they did over the years that culminated in their great achievements. As a real estate agent, you too have this tremendous potential that’s sitting idle inside you waiting to be unleashed. The challenge most people face is how to unleash this potential. How do you become the most amazing and successful version of you? Here are three things you can do to change the trajectory of your life and start zooming towards extraordinary success.

Ditch your fixed mindset

What’s a fixed mindset? It’s a state of mind where a person resists change through the decisions and thoughts that run through their mind daily. Fixed mindset people see all that can go wrong in a situation. They see everything as an insurmountable challenge waiting to happen. If you want to grow, you need to trade your fixed mindset for a growth mindset. Growth mindset people see possibilities in every situation. They see every circumstance as an opportunity to succeed. It does not mean they are hopeless optimists. It means they can resist challenges and push through to the success that lies just over the hill.

Don’t wait for everything to be perfect

There’s a name for this kind of people: perfectionists. They won’t run an open house until home staging is perfectly done. They won’t call up a lead because they are not 100% sure they will work out. They focus more on getting things perfect than getting things done. If you see some of these traits in you, this may be what is holding you back. Instead of focusing on whether things are perfect, focus instead on whether things are done. A done open house is better than a delayed open house. Calling up ten leads you are not sure about is better than calling only 2 you are sure about. In every situation, remember done is better than perfect.

Commit and deliver

You’ve probably seen this. A forward-thinking real estate agent using cutting-edge sales and marketing methods but not closing sales. On the other hand, an oldtimer uses single sales strategy, has been using it for last 30 years, closing sales like a pro. What’s happening here? Cutting edge agent is doing a lot of dabbling, jumping from one “latest and greatest” sales strategy to the next, never giving any strategy enough time to work. They think the next best strategy will be the magic bullet that brings in a torrent of sales. That is rarely the case. The oldtimer has perfected a few strategies and works them like a pro. Instead of being a dabbler, be persistent instead. Stick to one strategy and test it thoroughly. Pick another, rinse and repeat. Pro sellers will tell you mastering a few key strategies is what brings in sales, not constantly chasing after untested shiny-penny strategies whenever they pop up.
