My mastermind group has people in marketing, real estate, hospitality and a bunch of other industries. We all have one thing in common: we want to do better. When we come together, everyone brings their best insights to the table. Here I share with you five such insights that I believe can have a massive impact on your business.

We live in a mobile-first world now

The market has changed. In fact, it has been changed for a while now. Customers across industries are now accessing marketing material via mobile devices. Something interesting I learned at the mastermind is what a mobile-first approach means. It means that when a developer is building a website, they first build the mobile version before moving on to the desktop version. They focus more on how the website will look on mobile than on desktop. This is a powerful insight, especially for real estate agents. Your customers are looking for houses on their phones. If this is the case, you need to adjust your marketing approach to be a mobile-first approach. Ditch the old website for a responsive one that formats beautifully to mobile.

Social media is evolving

Today, social media is a different beast than it was five to ten years ago. Platforms like Instagram and Snapchat are on the rise while others like Twitter and LinkedIn are on the wane. Doing your social media marketing should reflect this reality. A key insight from the mastermind is the growth of short-form video as a marketing medium. If you can be creative enough to figure out how to utilize these spaces, you can easily turn a profit. Some ideas for these kinds of spaces are pop-up stores, musicals and plays, mini-concerts and advertising stands.

To paraphrase what Henry Ford said, it all depends on what you think you can and cannot do. For real estate agents, mindset plays a key role in how each day goes. If you are focused on how much you will achieve, chances are, you will achieve a lot. If not, you may end the day without a single lead. Focusing on what you can achieve and using this to build momentum can help you transform dire circumstances into situations pregnant with possibility. One participant at the mastermind put it this way; if you see how your work is changing the lives of others, you will have even more purpose to do it well. So, instead of selling homes, see it as assisting families to put down some roots. Instead of helping someone sell a home, you are helping them take the next step in their life.
